Shakeria

Shakeria joined Fighting Measure Martial Arts (FMMA) in 2022 and currently holds an Intermediate Level 2 ranking. She is also a 1st Year Apprentice Instructor under Khru Daniel. Passionate about the art form, Shakeria embraces Muay Thai not only as a means of staying physically fit but also as a source of mental clarity and balance.

A former dancer, Shakeria has performed across Barbados and the Caribbean and has taught traditional West African and Caribbean dance styles at various schools and community groups. In 2019, she entered the National Independence Festival of Creative Arts (NIFCA) with her original choreography Core, part of the Dancing Africa presentation. The piece won gold and several other accolades, including the prestigious Richild Springer Scholarship, which enabled her to study dance in New York City in 2022.

Shakeria now assists with FMMA’s Muay Thai Jr. Dragons classes on Saturday mornings. She is committed to creating a fun, educational, and impactful environment where young students can grow in confidence and skill through martial arts.
